Red Fox Accounting evolved into what it is today for one excellent reason – sex workers in Australia need expert specialised accounting. Before we started Red Fox, we had a growing number of sex worker clients who came to our accounting practice by word of mouth referrals. We realised that this was an industry where we could really help, because the availability of qualified professional expertise was so badly lacking. So we made the decision to open Red Fox, a business dedicated to the specialised accounting needs of sex workers and those in the adult industry.

So many sex workers had felt unwelcome, or judged by their previous advisors. They never felt completely at home, the trust and deep respect just wasn’t there.
In many cases the quality of the service they had received was terrible, and they had been let down very badly.
Other sex workers had never received professional accounting services before, and had no idea how it would all work, or the range of things we could do for them.

Felix.
Felix is a full-time personal trainer and part-time sex worker. Felix advertises their services via a variety of websites where outcall bookings can be arranged. After a detailed private discussion about the specific situation we were able to make a claim for a portion of the rent, electricity and water bills. We will always treat you with respect, and the very highest level of professionalism. To start things off, we like to have a short private telephone conversation. In that telephone conversation, we generally won’t get into specific detail.
Before we ask you for any private information, we send you a letter of engagement. This letter provides you with our professional membership information, and details the obligations we have about your privacy, and sets out our code of ethics.
Only once you have approved and accepted the terms, will we ask for your specific private and personal financial information, such as your Tax File Number.
We are then able to either meet you in person at our Surry Hills, Sydney office, or via Zoom, FaceTime or any other virtual meeting platform.
If you would rather not meet in person or visually, we can conduct a detailed meeting over the phone. Whatever works for you, we can accomodate.
Discretion.
Confidentiality and discretion is critically important to you - at Red Fox we offer a confidential accounting service for those who value professional discretion with their private affairs.

Tax returns are lodged via a sister firm of ours, a vanilla tax accounting practice. Your tax return appears alongside farmers, bakers and engineers. Trust is important.

Here at Red Fox we are deeply aware of the issues facing you. We strongly advocate for the interests of sex workers and aim for the total removal of all stigma attached to sex work.
We call for a return to the spirit of the 1995 legislation that decriminalised sex work in NSW. We call for the deregulation of the industry (including council interventions). Sex work is no different to any other form of work and should not be treated differently, by anyone, for any reason.
We know all too well that sex workers are discriminated against in the financial services industry. The discrimination isn’t just occurring when applying for a mortgage or loan. It happens when running a sex work business. Credit card payment services like Square and Stripe exclude sex workers and many workers who do use these services lose their payments.
We actively call on the Federal Government to accept that sex workers provide a basic human right to those on the NDIS. Connection with another human is a biological need. Sex work should be funded by the NDIS. We call for the deregulation of street-based work.
Pro Bono Expertise.
Red Fox Accounting is proud to provide our expertise to charities and not-for-profits in the sex work industry. We respect the confidentiality of all our clients, and would never name drop – let’s just say we are doing our bit. Ask around if you need clarification. We sit on the committees of sex worker charities, and we provide external accounting services to others – all proudly free of charge, of course.
